Dermatology Associates of Morris

The design for the Dermatology Associates of Morris is fresh and approachable – just like the doctors it represents. In addition, the site layout focuses on the medical services the associates provide. Not only does this distinguish them from the commercial and cosmetic side of their industry, but it also allows people with questions about the dermatologic services they are researching online to access the information they need right away. The associates’ office has many pictures of flowers, particularly Georgia O’Keefe. The design blends with their office branding by including pictures of flowers on every page.

Process for Designing the Dermatology Website

The best web solutions are the ones that look at who the client is, who their clients are, and how the site will be used. The process to create the Dermatology Associates of Morris website included a sitemap, wireframes, several design comps, and well thought out code to achieve the best possible website.

A sitemap is used to illustrate the structure of a site. This tool enables the discussion of all the content pieces and how it can be logically organized.

Wireframes

A wireframe is used to show the layout of the page without design. It allows for quick updates to layout when discussing the hierarchy and relationships between elements (e.g. logo, text, imagery, promotions).

Three Compositions

Three design comps provide three interpretations of the same creative guidelines. The designs articulate different approaches for the same goal and provide a means to pick a final solution.

Development

The site is coded using basic web standard practices. This creates sites that are search engine friendly, easy to maintain, and work in multiple browsers and media.

About Me

With a degree in graphic design and a minor computer science, I have worked as a web designer my entire professional career.

My design background gives me the knowledge to make a website usable, beautiful, and represent a client’s look and feel.

My computer science background enables me to understand the importance of clean code, to understand the cost of maintenance, and to pick up new languages quickly.

My practical experience gives me the ability to make recommendations to increase profit, to make judicious decisions to maximize success with a tight deadline, and to present the options available regarding a project and how they impact it.
